Gary Racz is associate professor of Foreign Languages and Literature at Long Island University—Brooklyn, book review editor for Translation Review, and vice-president of the American Literary Translators Association (ALTA). He has taught sections of 401 and/or 402-502 in the Rutgers University Translation and Interpretation program since 1996. A specialist in poetry translation, Racz has published over three hundred poems by Spanish and Latin American writers in journals and anthologies, including works by Félix María Samaniego, Manuel González Prada, and José Lezama Lima. He edited Three Comedies by Jaime Salom (UP of Colorado, 2004) in which his translation Rigmaroles appears. Racz’s translations of Calderón de la Barca’s Life Is a Dream and Lope de Vega’s Fuenteovejuna appeared this year in the Norton Anthology of Drama. Most recently, selections of his work were published in The Oxford Book of Latin American Poetry (Oxford UP).
