Program Director, Miguel Jiménez-Crespo, Accepted to JIAL Review Board and Publishes in First Issue
Rutgers assistant professor and program director of the Translation and Interpreting Program, Miguel A. Jiménez-Crespo, has recently been admitted to the board of the Journal of Internationalization and Localization and also published it its first issue. This new peer-reviewed journal seeks to establish a worldwide discussion forum for both professionals and academics in the area of internationalization and localization and broadly focuses on all aspects of this budding field. The main objective of this journal is to “leverage the full range of information, from academic research results to the shop floor of today's language industries, and, conversely, to leverage business experiences in order to inform academic research.”
In its first issue, Jiménez-Crespo published his paper: “The evaluation of pragmatic and functionalist aspects in localization: towards a holistic approach to Quality Assurance.” This paper looks at current quality assurance models, which focus on language and functionality of the product being localized, and compares them to more pragmatic approaches through the use of localization evaluation corpora.
